Zhumadian City,located in the central and southern part of Henan Province of the Huaihe river valley.It has been an important line of communication since ancient times.It was made a courier station in ancient times and was called“Stamach of Henan,Center of China ” .Zhumadian Prefectural Government Office was set up in 1965,the Origanizational system of prefectural was cancelled and Zhumadian city was set up in august 2000.The city has 9 counties of Xiping,Suiping,Shangcai,Runan,Pingyu,Queshan,Zhengyang, Xincai,Biyang and Yicheng District under its jurisdiction,198 townships (towns) and street agencies,an area of 15,000 square kilometers and a population of 8 ．31millions.
Zhumadian has a long history and propitious mountains and rivers,which gave birth to many historic figures such as Li Si ,Prime Minister of the Qin Dynasty.Ganbao, the writer of “Notes for Searching Deity”_ the first myth novel collection in China and Fan Zhen,a great materialist thinker,etc.It is also the original place of the families of Cai,Jin and Jiang.It was also the cradle of Chongyang Festival and “Liang Shanbo and ZhuYing tai”_one of the “Four famous love legends of China”.?
Zhumadian is not only a beautiful city but also a city rich in mineral resources.It is warm and has sufficient rainfall. It is an important producing base of crops and oil of Henan Province even of China.Because of that, it has been called “a Granary of the world”, “an Oil Depot in the General Plains” and “Kingdom of Sesame”, The annual total of oil output ranks first in the whole province. Meat,and poutry ranks second and third respectively. In China, Biyang is a county with the largest production to mushroom, zhengyang is a county with the largest production of peanut, and Pingyu is a county with the largest production of white sesame. High quality wheat、trees and flowers of Shangcai, chestnut of Queshang and high quality tobacco leaf of Copper Mt.It is rich in mineral resources. It is a picturesque city with countless artificial and natural landscapes.It has the Chayashan Mountain, the state-level scenic spot and forest park of Boshanghu Lake, the biggest man-made reservoir in the plains Suyahu lake, and many historic relics and remains such as the Prime Minister of the Qin Dynasty Li si’Tomb and Fuxi Divination Pavillion.The native palace of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai.It has lots of red touring resources such as Zhugou in Queshan,which was called “Little Yan’an”was once the site of the headquarters of the Central Plains Burear of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and of the Henan Provincial Party Committee, the Memorial Hall of General Yang Jingyu was set up and the title was autographed by the General Secretary of the General Committee of the Chinese Communist Party,Jiang Zemin.
The industry of Zhumadian city has been developing quickly. It has formed a versatile industry system and eight supporting industries, including pharmacy, machinery, electricity meters, building materials, food and oil processing, in which, emerges a batch of core enterprises such as Tianzhong Medical Group, Junma Chemical Group, Lantian Group , “Wang Shouyi 13 Fragrance”,Junma Chemical Group, Huajun Automobile, and Yunan Cement Plant, etc.
